This week on A Sound Effect, we have new libraries that are on the rare side! We have fun human imitations of animals, Moscow ambiences from all seasons, mechanical sounds of the doors and buttons from an old bus, complex designed debris, and more cats than you’ve ever heard before. We also have ambisonic recordings of quiet nights and tons of magic powers and spells. Happy listening!
Sonic Worlds has the sound library you've been waiting for! 'Meow – Cat Essentials' features 8 expressive cats and over 150 vocalizations, so you no longer need to rely on those overused cat sounds we so often hear. You'll be introduced to a maniac Calico named Jasper, a sad Tabby named Marty, two whiney ginger cats, a black cat named Sweety who loves to purr, and others. These cats have quite the personalities, giving you plenty of growls, hisses, shrieks, cries, and mews for your expressive felines!
'Ambisonic Surround After Dark' by 2496 Sound Effects has 20 night ambiences all offered in ambisonic, 5.1 surround, and stereo. These quiet, peaceful atmospheres contain lots of clear crickets and cicadas, as well as urban recordings with barking dogs, industrial hum, night traffic, and distant sirens. As always, if you want to hear just how immersive B format is, download their demo file and try it out!
'Pedestrian Streets of Moscow' by Hand Rolling has just what the title says, featuring 13 locations from the city's downtown areas. You'll hear pedestrians passing by, lots of distinctly Russian walla, distant traffic and church bells, urban wildlife, and much more. The library also has recordings from all seasons - from snowy footsteps to summer birds - and it's offered in stereo and surround. If you need ambiences from a modern city with a rich history, check this one out.
From the masters of impacts, SoundBits have a new library that will blow you away. 'Crash & Smash – Designed' gets you 350 sounds of glass, metal, stone, wood, and plastic destruction all mixed for maximum impact. With complex amounts of debris, these sounds are perfect for demolition or apocalyptic scenes. You'll also receive 100 sounds mixed in 5.0 surround. Whether you want your audience to feel like they're in the middle of a falling building or you need more elements to add realism to your scene, definitely give the demo a listen.
'Scrap School Bus – Dashboard and Door' by Mechanical Wave is a quick pack of 78 sounds from an out-of-commission school bus. This library has unique mechanical sounds that include several takes of the bus's easily recognizable sliding door as it opens and closes, as well as the buttons on the dashboard and its multiple light switches. If you need even one of these sounds, this library is worth the purchase!
Gamemaster Audio continue to live up to their name, and this time they have a sound library for all your mystical needs. 'Magic and Spell Sounds' has sounds of enchantment and dark sorcery with effects based on fire, ice, rocks, wind, water, electricity... you name it! You'll get dark, windy growls, lightning blasts, horror spells, fireballs, shattering impacts, healing powers, and more. Altogether there are over 680 sounds - and as always, this library is included in their Pro Sound Collection.
Also new by Gamemaster Audio this week is a large, fun collection of human-made 'Animal Sounds'. In this library, you'll hear 1,085 impersonations of farm animals like chickens, cows, sheep, and horses, jungle animals like monkeys, hyenas, and hippos, and forest animals like bears, frogs, owls, mice. You'll also get 127 nature ambiences of swamps, forests, and farms. Whether you're looking for caricature animals for cartoons or a unique user interface, this library has plenty for you to hear.
