This week we have sounds for games and plenty of Foley, ambiences, musical SFX and otherworldly material. You will find the happy chimes of social game design, flexible explosions, sounds of grooming in the bathroom, tranquil ambiences from rural Texas, handmade glitches, high-tech hums of an electric car, sounds of catching bait knee high in mud, the squeals of dry ice and metal, and lots of sleighbells just in time for Christmas. If you need an eclectic assortment of libraries, this is your week!
'Tesla Electric Car' by Rick Allen Creative features this envied all-electric car brand as it quietly whispers 'the future in now!' This library has interior and exterior perspectives of the car's engine and foley of its doors and horns. It also has recordings of pass-bys as it travels at different speeds and on various terrain like gravel and pavement. Plus it features not only the Model X but the Model S, too! If you need the modern sounds of an electric car but don't have access to one quite yet, check out 'Tesla Electric Car'.
Thomas Rex Beverly captured more of his beautiful Texan surroundings in 'High Desert Ambiences'. This collection features sounds that will make you fall in love with the desert with the trickling of distant rivers, smooth cricket chirps, echoey caws from ravens so close you can hear the details in their wings flaps, snorts from a cautious yet curious deer, choruses of birds at dawn, and much more. Most recordings are well over 4 minutes, with one half-hour night-time track that will make you want to take out your tent immediately. For lush, peaceful nature sounds from the heart of the mainland, here's 'High Desert Ambiences'.
'TWISTED Universe' by The Red libraries brings you over 250 organic glitches that will add a distinct edge to your sound design. With impacts, whooshes, loops, soundscapes, alarms, tension layers, zaps and more, you will make your audience feel like you are directly in their ears, popping sonic popcorn and shredding musical tones. These diverse sounds also range from a couple seconds to a minute and seventeen seconds for evolving hums, scrapes, stutters, rises and complex soundscapes. For a glitch library like no other, 'TWISTED Universe' is well worth hearing.
'The Morning Routine Foley Pack' by Tall Tale Sound is a collection of the sounds you hear as you transition from being a cranky, puffy-eyed slob to a clean, fresh-breathed champion of the day. With only slight realistic reverb, this collection captures sounds of shaving, swishing mouth wash, flossing, applying deodorant, opening shampoo bottles, using a plunger, trimming nose hairs and much more, which are great for locker rooms scenes and Heavy Rain-like games that focus on daily minutia. For over 100 sounds of morning refreshment, check out 'The Morning Routine Foley Pack'.
Gamemaster Audio is back with more game audio in their new library 'Fun Casual Sounds'. In this collection you will find 629 sounds that have the happy charm of casual and social games with bells, chimes, 'coins', jingles, battle horns, retro bleeps and bloops, UI sounds and more. These tracks will not only help you prototype your game, they are also royalty-free and perfect for the fictional game in your film that all your characters are addicted to. For a library that quickly brings to mind words like 'saga' and 'freemium', 'Fun Casual Sounds' delivers.
Also new from Gamemaster Audio is 'Explosion Sound Pack', a collection of over 200 recordings of one of the Mythbusters' favorite sounds. This pack includes booms both big and small from various perspectives and with and without reverb tails. This library, along with 'Fun Casual Sounds', is also included in Gamemaster Audio's massive collection of over 4,500 sounds, 'Gamemaster Pro Sound Collection'. If you're looking for big booms and small blasts, here's 'Explosion Sound Pack'.
'Yabby Pumping' by Alexander Gastrell features this Australian bait catching technique and all the crazy watery textures it produces. With what looks like a caulking tube, crustaceans are removed from their deep, muddy homes as they are sucked up and spit out onto the surface to be snatched up for crab bait. This library captures sounds of water, mud, sand and shells as they are vacuumed up and released in a laborious way that suggests there is a definite goal. For sounds of a fun Australian past-time - and some squishy, muddy pumping sounds, the 'Yabby Pumping' library definitely comes in handy.
'Christmas Sound Effects Bundle' by AudionFX isn't waiting until after Black Friday to pull out the tree. Since popular music has a funny way of crossing hemispheres, this library features the instrument synonymous with Christmas: sleighbells. With over 170 Christmas sounds and one-shots as well as other ringing, twinkling bells, this collection will help you complete your yuletide soundscape, conjuring up images of falling snow and hot cocoa, or a day on the beach with a fruity cocktail if you're in balmy Queensland. For a little Christmas cheer, have a listen to the aptly-named 'Christmas Sound Effects Bundle'.
'Metal Resonances' by Double Trouble Audio captures metal in its most hauntingly musical forms. Doors, shelves, faucets, air drums, tubes and more are experimented on in this library with dry ice, resulting in powerful squeals and scrapes that are perfect for horror movies, sci-fi films and UI design. Also, since they were captured at 96kHz and 192kHz with two different perspectives, the sounds can also be manipulated for 'large-scale' use for massive metal squeals from bridges, huge hinges and twisting rebar. If you need metal sounds that will leave an impact on your audience, check out 'Metal Resonances'.
