This week on A Sound Effect, we have new sound libraries that can put you in the middle of a packed stadium or take you on a solitary underwater journey. There are crowd sounds from Italian soccer games and various musical venues, and ambiences from inside car cabins or deep in the ocean. You can also hear foley of whooshing fire effects, cleaning dishes, wood and glass debris, and two new options for buying and implementing the Edward footstep and foley packs. These detailed textures definitely have the final touches you need for your sound design!
'Dive Deep' by Lukáš Tvrdoň takes you to the depths of an excursion with a collection that features booming, enclosed underwater atmospheres. Included are 50 designed sounds that give you rushing water, eerie submerged engines, lots of bubbles, distant splashes, and more. The sounds range from half a minute to over five minutes and will inspire your sound design with their thick atmospheres. If you need sounds that make you feel like the surface is out of reach, then listen to this library.
'Sports & Soccer Crowds' by Sound of Italy is a just-updated collection of crowds in Italian stadiums experiencing what they love - soccer. Ranging from fans watching a local game to a huge attendance at the Juventus Stadium, you can hear crowds singing, chanting, cheering, booing, and whistling as they sit on the edges of their seats. There are also air horns, PA announcements, and 183 additional sounds from other sports like boxing, skiing, horse racing, and tennis. If you need ambiences of crowds, or the athletes, this is a great combination.
Perhaps you needs sounds of crowds, but instead with people enjoying various musical performances. 'Crowds – Audiences' by BOOM Library has over 4,500 files and more than 24 GB of crowds in clubs, churches, theatres, concert halls, festivals, and more as they enjoy the performers who could be classical violinists, or a local garage band, or superstars who are taking over the coast. These crowds pleasantly clap, loudly cheer, applaud rhythmically, shout bravo, and much more in this collection - the largest of its kind. For sounds of audiences ranging from electrified to courteous, this one has it all!
UberDuo says, 'We may not have everything, but we’ve got the kitchen sink covered.' - and their new library 'The Kitchen Sink' certainly does with 42 sounds of many people's least favorite chore. You will hear the sounds of dishes clanging, the sink filling and draining, cups being rinsed, bowls dried, and wet sponges cleaning utensils like cheese graters, silverware, wire whisks and more. You even get an impulse response from inside the sink drain. If you need a quick pack of kitchen sounds, give this one a listen.
'Drive My Car' by Spheric Collection is an ambisonic library with 56 sounds from 9 vehicles. Rather than feature passbys and growling engines, this collection has interior sounds of electric cars, luxury vehicles, and taxis driving on highways and through parking lots and cities for an ambient library that almost feels more like a room tone collection. You even get some weather effects like wind and rain, too. For a library that puts you right in the passengers seat, check this library out.
'Fire' by Spheric Collection gives you the 360 degree view of a pyro's dream. This library has sounds of flamethrowers, gas fires, fireplaces, torches, and firecrackers for tons of crackling and sizzling fun that plays with a modern sound image. The flaming objects swoosh, burst, and sizzle creating immersive effects that can also be mixed to stereo and surround with a free plugin. If you want to surround your audience with flames, give this library a listen.
'Crash & Smash' by SoundBits gets you over 1,110 sounds of Saro Sahihi's junkyard rampage. This library includes sounds of glass impacts, wood debris, rolling rocks, and more for a destructive collection with all the textural elements you need. It also has tons of crashes and heavy thuds, and the sounds are ready for your timeline as they are as clean as can be of background noise. If you need sounds of various objects being demolished, this is a library to check out.
Tovusound has added two more flexible options for sound designers to access their famous Edward library. First is the 'Edward Foleyart Instrument' which is a Kontakt instrument with 35,600 footsteps and adjustable parameters to help you control proximity, shoe and surface combinations, behaviors, and more. You'll hear surfaces like asphalt, carpet, concrete, dirt, gravel, leaves, metal, etc. as well as sneakers, boots, heels, slippers, and barefoot feet. But wait, there's more...
The second new option offered by Tovusound is the 'Edward Foleyart Instrument + WAV Bundle' which helps you save money by giving you not only the Kontakt instrument for a great price but also The Foleyart Collection sound library and Extended Footsteps add-on, too! Now you can have all the options in the Kontakt instrument like reverb, behaviors, parameters, and impulse responses while still being able to use the individual WAVs however you'd like - and for a steal. If Edward has piqued your interest in the past, it's time to take another look.
